Richard has had over 35 years experience in the Arboriculture, Amenity Horticulture and Land Management sectors, where he has gained a wealth of knowledge. Starting out in life working for commercial Forestry and Arboriculture companies and then as a student gardener at Kew Gardens, he developed his career through working for several local authorities and government bodies in the London and East Anglia area.
He has a lifetime interest in trees and the management of trees for amenity purposes, especially in the urban environment, and is a keen Dendrologist.
He has considerable knowledge of conservation tree management and a professional interest in developing and promoting the role of Arboriculture for improving all people’s quality of life, which he does through active involvement in the Institute of Horticulture, developing best practice within the industry and as a long serving Green Flag Award judge.
His role is to continue managing and developing good practice in tree management and Landscape Projects within London and East Anglia and to further develop best practice in Health and Safety in relation to tree management.
